Picturesque World of Instagram
Instagram, a relatively new photo sharing app for iPhones and Android phones, is becoming popular among social media users.
First available in October of 2010 for iPhone users, Instagram allowed its users to take photos and apply different filters to them with just their phones. This may seem unnecessary. However, within less than two years Instagram now has over 30 million registered accounts. I too, am one of these registered users. I downloaded Instagram over a year ago but rarely used it until recently when I noticed more and more pictures being posted on Facebook via Instagram. Once my interest was reignited I found myself using Instagram more than my usual social media networks, Facebook and Twitter. I now believe that Instagram is one of the best social media networks out there.
Instead of posting statuses and check-ins saying where you are and what you’re doing, you can actually show your friends with simple snapshots. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced photographer or never taken a picture in your life, Instragram will turn any photo into a work of art with just three simple steps: Take a picture of anything you like, choose which filter you like the best, and finally upload your photo to Instagram. Like Twitter, Instagram also allows its users to tag friends and apply hash-tags when uploading their photos. This is important because it allows all Instagram users to interact with others that share the same interests.
Instagram takes social networks to a new level. It allows everyone to not only explore their creativity but also keep a photo diary of their lives. For those of you who have not explored Instragram I highly recommend you do. This app may not seem like all that much, but really it is helping people capture and share priceless memories that they created.
